Vast Majority of CMP Customers to Have Power Restored Tonight
135,000 customers restored in 36 hours
AUGUSTA, Maine — October 1, 2020 – With 300 lineworker crews and 100 tree crews at work across CMP’s service area today, the company has restored power to more than 135,000 customers from a total of about 140,000 since the wind storm started creating outages at about 6:00AM Wednesday. The company projects that the vast majority of remaining customers will have the lights back on by midnight tonight. At 5:00 PM Thursday, about 4,500 customers remained without service.
“Our crews have worked hard today; they have worked safely and efficiently, and we hope to have nearly all customers restored tonight, said Kerri Therriault, director of Electric Operations. “There are some roads such as camp and fire roads serving individual or small numbers of customers that may require more time, and we will stay on the job until everyone is back.”
Last night and early today, the company moved both internal CMP crews and contractors to Kennebec County and areas of the Midcoast that experienced the greatest number of outages.
Customers may check estimated times for restoration on the outage list on CMP’s website.
CMP continues to observe all COVID-19 safety protocols in storm response including:

- Restricting visitor access to company facilities
