Electric Technology Rate
The Electric Technology Rate is designed to offer potential savings for customers who use electricity efficiently.
Electric Technology Rate
The residential Electric Technology rate, also called the ET rate, is an optional delivery rate for customers who use more electricity because of technologies such as heat pumps, electric vehicles or home charging equipment.
Because every home uses electricity differently, the best way to know whether this rate could help you save is to use the Residential Optional Rate Calculator in your online account. The calculator compares your current delivery rate with available optional residential rates using your historical usage information, so you can make a more informed choice.
How It Works
The ET rate has a higher monthly customer charge than Rate A, but a lower delivery charge for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) you use. That means customers with higher monthly usage may see lower delivery costs on this rate.
This rate may be a good option if your home regularly uses 800 kWh or more per month. If your usage changes from month to month, the calculator can help you look at your annual usage and estimate whether the ET rate may be beneficial for you.
For example: (as of July 1, 2026)
- 642 kWh per month has been determined to be the break-even point for this rate compared to Rate A.
- 800 kWh per month saves approximately $5 on the delivery portion of the monthly bill
- 900 kWh per month saves approximately $8 on the delivery portion of the monthly bill
- 1000 kWh per month saves approximately $11 on the delivery portion of the monthly bill
| Rate Plan | Electric Technology Rate (effective July 1, 2026) |
Rate A (effective July 1, 2026) |
| Service Charge | $41.24 | $27.37* |
| Per kWh Charge | $0.088638 | $0.119590 |
* Includes the first 50kWh of usage.
- The residential Electric Technology rate does not include the first 50 kWh use in the Service Charge like Rate A does. It does include the first 750 kWh of usage sales-tax free.
- There is no requirement to have a heat pump or an Electric Vehicle to be on this rate, it is available to all residential customers.
