Power Restored to 160,000 CMP Customers

1,000 external line crews will be working to restore power across CMP’s service area through the weekend

Augusta, ME — April 5, 2024 — CMP has restored power to nearly 160,000 customers following this week’s destructive nor’easter. The company is continuing around the clock damage assessment, tree clearing, and repairs to electrical infrastructure, and expects to make significant progress over the next two days.

1,000 external crews will be working across Maine through the weekend to restore power to customers who were impacted by the storm. This includes dozens of crews from Avangrid sister companies located in New York and Connecticut.

With a massive restoration effort underway, CMP urged motorists to use caution on the roads.

“We are going to have a significant presence in Maine over the next few days, especially in the southwestern part of the state. With 1,000 crews deployed, we ask that motorists slow down and give our crews plenty of room as they do their roadside work,” said Jon Breed, spokesperson for Central Maine Power. “We had a few near misses this past winter, with a motorist sideswiping a utility truck in one instance. At the end of the day we need to ensure our men and woman working in the field get home safe.”
