CMP Announces Annual Contractor and Electrician Meetings

Through the end of July, CMP will be holding its annual informational meetings with electrical contractors and electricians in each of the regions it serves.

Augusta, ME — July 11, 2024 – Central Maine Power (CMP) today announced its schedule for its annual meetings with electrical contractors and electricians, conducted at CMP service buildings across Maine.

These meetings are an opportunity for electrical contractors and electricians to ask a wide range of questions to CMP leaders. This type of program has already produced positive results for customers. Last summer, CMP announced a process for licensed electricians to disconnect and reconnect the most common type of meter setup on single-family homes in Maine as they perform work.

In the first half of 2024, CMP recorded approximately 1,000 fewer calls than it did in 2023 for this type of service, which previously could only be performed by company staff. This represents a 95% reduction in these types of calls and many hours of time saved for CMP customers. CMP is committed to this and other ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiencies.

“We’ve received a lot of positive feedback on the new meter disconnect and reconnect policy we announced last summer,” said Adam Desrosiers, Vice President of Electric Operations for CMP. “These face-to-face meetings ensure we continue a productive dialogue with Maine’s electricians and contractors to build on that success and keep them informed of our actions and plans across our system.”
