Linda Ball Named President of Central Maine Power

Ball brings more than 30 years of experience in electric utility industry to new role.

Augusta, ME – September 8, 2025 – Central Maine Power (CMP), a subsidiary of Avangrid Inc., is proud to announce the appointment of Linda Ball as President, effective immediately. Ball, who has served as CMP’s Vice President of Customer Service since 2019, brings more than three decades of experience in the energy industry to this new role, with a strong foundation in customer service and operational leadership. This appointment also reaffirms CMP’s commitment to putting its customers at the center of the company’s operations.

“I’m honored to have been chosen to lead Central Maine Power. I started my career helping customers one-on-one, and that experience has shaped every step of my professional life,” said Linda Ball, President of Central Maine Power. “As we face increasingly severe storms and growing energy demands, continuing to invest in Maine’s energy grid is more critical than ever for resilience, reliability, and 21st century modernization. Our momentum making smart, targeted investments that strengthen our energy infrastructure will allow us to continue to deliver safe, dependable power for future generations of Mainers.”

“Linda leads with integrity, vision, and a strong focus on delivering reliable service to all of our customers,” said Jose Antonio Miranda, CEO of Avangrid. “Her service to Maine people has been outstanding and I look forward to her continued success. All of us are proud of her taking this next step in her remarkable career.”

Linda began her career as an entry-level customer service representative at CMP’s sister company, New York State Electric and Gas, steadily rising through roles in both Customer Service and Operational Smart Grids. Since relocating to Maine with her family in 2012, she has become a key leader at CMP through the extreme storms the company has responded to in recent years.

“Linda’s appointment as President of CMP is a testament to her expertise and unwavering commitment to Maine,” said Joe Purington, CEO of Avangrid Networks. “Our state and our company will continue benefiting from her deep experience in the energy industry. Her operational insight and dedication to serving communities will be invaluable to CMP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen our grid’s resilience against extreme weather.”

In her role as Vice President, Linda was instrumental in expanding CMP’s customer service teams and leading storm response efforts. She was part of the team that earned an Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Emergency Response Award, recognizing CMP’s extraordinary performance during recovery and restoration efforts following the spring nor’easter that brought strong winds, heavy snow, and ice to Maine on April 4, 2024. Under her leadership, CMP also exceeded the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s (MPUC) performance metrics for customer service in the MPUC Service Quality Index Report Card.

Linda succeeds Joe Purington, who now serves as CEO of Avangrid Networks.
