CMP to Restore Vast Majority of Outages Today
AUGUSTA, ME – October 27, 2021 – 4 p.m. – Central Maine Power (CMP) expects that the vast majority of outages caused by the Nor’easter will be restored by the end of today. Storm gusts in the range of 50-55 mph created 66,800 outages starting late Tuesday night, with a peak number of 27,900. Outages were concentrated in coastal York and Cumberland Counties. Gusts will continue to diminish Wednesday lessening the possibility of additional outages; however crews will continue to respond as needed.
“We were well prepared to respond to this event with CMP employees and contractors positioned along the coast,” said Kerri Therriault, director, Electric Operations. “We understand it is frustrating to be without power, especially with many Mainers still working from home, and we appreciate the patience of our customers as we have worked as efficiently and safely as possible to restore power throughout the day.”
“Our lineworkers and tree workers work conscientiously to make areas safe and restore our customers, and they are backed by hundreds of CMP employees who immediately move into their storm support roles such as managing reporting systems, transporting vehicles and equipment, ordering and delivering food and making hotel reservations for support crews.”
Customers may use the CMP Mobile App to report and check the status of power outages. Visit the Apple App store or Google Play store to download for free. Additional online tools to report and monitor outages are accessible at cmpco.com/outages .
