CMP Remains on Alert for Henri
Southern Maine may feel gusty winds
AUGUSTA, ME— August 21, 2021 – Central Maine Power (CMP) has been monitoring Tropical Storm Henri, and while current forecasts don’t predict the storm hitting Maine at hurricane strength, the company is fully staffed with contractors reserved in the event Henri veers North. Southern Maine may experience wind gusts while more of the state will see rain into Monday and Tuesday.
Trees damaged by high winds that fall into power lines and utility poles are primarily responsible for outages during storms.
“We have about 200 CMP crews and about 200 contractors ready to respond if Henri changes course,” said Kerri Therriault, director, Electric Operations. “We will continue to track the storm closely today and tomorrow and make adjustments as needed. We also encourage our customers to prepare in the event the storm does affect Maine.”
CMP offers storm preparation tips and a checklist on our website www.cmpco.com.
CMP reminds customers to remember the following if they have lost power:
