CMP Recognizes its Dedicated Fleet Crew for Automotive Service Professionals Month
CMP’s fleet division maintains more than 800 vehicles across the company’s 11,000 square mile service area in Maine
Augusta, ME — June 18, 2025 — During the month of June, recognized nationally as Automotive Service Professionals Month, Central Maine Power (CMP), a subsidiary of Avangrid Inc., is recognizing the hard work of its fleet team. CMP’s fleet division is made up of 16 team members who maintain more than 800 of the company’s vehicles and trailers, including its many bucket trucks used to build and maintain Maine’s grid as well as respond to outages during extreme storms across a service area larger than the state of Connecticut.
These crews are continually working on routine maintenance and emergency repairs. In addition to bucket trucks, CMP operates numerous specialized vehicles that range in use from installing utility poles to carrying large substation equipment.
“Behind every CMP vehicle is a dedicated team of skilled professionals who keep our fleet of 800+ vehicles running strong across Maine. Their expertise is what keeps CMP and Maine moving, “said Stephanie Roper, Senior Director of Electric Operations for CMP. “Our lineworkers and crews cannot make repairs, restore outages or upgrade our grid without driving our vehicles into all kinds of rugged terrain in both coastal and mountainous areas. We’re proud to recognize the incredibly valuable role these skilled employees and play week after week. They show up every day and make a difference.”
CMP’s fleet division is based out of facilities in Portland and Augusta with satellite sites in Lewiston and Fairfield to serve CMP’s approximately 675,000 customers statewide.
“Maine’s weather can be extreme—from blizzards to driving rain, ice storms, and freezing temperatures—and maintaining the grid in these conditions takes a fleet that’s ready for anything,” CMP Manager of Fleet Services Scott Jerauld said. “I’m incredibly proud of our team. It’s a big job, but this crew shows up every day with dedication and expertise. Working in a skilled trade like this means being part of something bigger - keeping our crews on the road and our customers connected, no matter what.”
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has designated June 2025 as Automotive Service Professionals Month (ASPM).
