CMP President’s Pick Book Donations Return
More than 600 Copies of a “A Dog and His Boy, The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty” will be donated to public elementary schools and municipal libraries across CMP’s service territory
AUGUSTA, ME — December 13, 2023 —
Central Maine Power (CMP) is happy to announce the return of its President’s Pick Book Donation program for the first time since 2019.
As part of this initiative, the President of CMP chooses a book that is sent to school and municipal libraries providing books and literacy resources to the more than 600 communities across Maine that CMP serves.
This year, President of CMP, Joe Purington, chose the book “A Dog and His Boy, The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty” because it is authored and illustrated by people who live in Maine and has other local connections to our state.
“The opportunity to recognize both local authors and a local illustrator in schools and libraries across our state along with an incredible message of inclusion made this book the perfect choice,” said Joe Purington, President of CMP. “Reading is such an important part of an education, and we are proud to support childhood learning in our Maine communities through President’s Pick.”
“We are thrilled and honored that ‘A Dog and His Boy, The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty’ has been chosen by Central Maine Power as the 2023 CMP President’s Pick Book Donation,” said Lisa Wentzell and Heidi Bullen, Authors of “A Dog and His Boy, The Adventures of Spillway and Scotty”. “It’s an incredible opportunity to spread the message of acceptance, empathy, and friendship to libraries and school libraries in their service area. We hope this story inspires and resonates with young readers, fostering a sense of understanding and inclusivity.”
