CMP Prepared for Spring Storm
Rain, wind and snow on deck
AUGUSTA, ME — April 18, 2022 — Central Maine Power (CMP) is prepared to respond across its service territory should the storm, which is expected to arrive early Tuesday with rain, winds and wet snow, create power outages. In addition to 200 CMP lineworkers, the Company has secured the support of 120 line contractors and 105 tree workers.
“The ground is very saturated, and high wind gusts can bring unstable trees down onto power lines, creating outages. Heavy, wet snow just makes it worse,” said Adam Desrosiers, vice president Electric Operations for CMP. “Our crews will be prepared Tuesday to move to where any damage occurs.”
In a storm, making local areas safe from any downed wires or debris is always a top priority. CMP coordinates with the Maine Emergency Management Agency, County Emergency Management agencies, and local municipalities to understand local restoration priorities and any safety concerns.
CMP offers storm preparation tips and a checklist at cmpco.com . Customers may also enroll online in Outage Alerts to stay current in the event they lose power.
