CMP Names Peter Cohen as Vice President, Regulatory

Tenured regulatory executive, Eric Stinneford to retire

AUGUSTA, ME — October 22, 2021 — Central Maine Power (CMP) has named Peter C. Cohen as Vice President, Regulatory. A 17-year veteran of CMP’s regulatory staff, Cohen will succeed Eric Stinneford, a 40-year CMP employee. In this role Cohen will lead CMP’s regulatory activities before the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC).

“Peter’s thorough understanding of complex regulatory issues and years of experience in Maine make him the perfect candidate to lead this function at CMP,” said Joseph Purington, president and CEO of CMP. “He leads a seasoned staff and will provide the expert guidance and continuity we need to manage dockets and policy before the MPUC.”

“I also wish Eric Stinneford the very best in his well-deserved retirement. He has led CMP through groundbreaking regulatory milestones such as the deregulation and restructuring of Maine’s energy industry just over twenty years ago. He is well respected by all of us at CMP and more broadly in Maine’s utility circles for his thoughtful and patient approach to complex regulatory policy issues.”

Cohen joined Avangrid Networks in Maine in 2004 as manager, regulatory economics and has assumed positions of increasing responsibility over his career, most recently serving as Senior Director, Regulatory leading more than 20 CMP professionals in regulatory analytics, compliance filings and other activities. Prior to joining Avangrid Networks, Cohen worked for PanAmSat Corp of Greenwich, CT leading global sales operations and finance functions.

Cohen holds a BS in Business administration from the University of Denver and lives in Cumberland.
