CMP, MEMA, County EMAs Prepare for Upcoming Winter Storm Season


 

The annual meeting brought together CMP teams, MEMA and nearly a dozen county emergency management agencies at CMP’s Augusta headquarters. 

 

AUGUSTA, ME – November 21 2025 – Teams from Central Maine Power (CMP), a subsidiary of Avangrid, met with state and county emergency management leaders to review winter storm preparedness and emergency response plans ahead of the approaching winter storm season. Nearly a dozen emergency management agencies participated in the November 14 meeting at CMP’s headquarters in Augusta, reinforcing CMP’s year-round commitment to collaboration and preparedness.

In addition, coordinated public messaging about downed lines, generator safety, travel conditions, and the availability of shelters, warming centers, and community resources ensures Mainers receive clear, timely information when it matters most.”  

 

The annual preparedness meeting focused on best practices for the 2025-2026 storm season and reviewed coordination strategies for storm response. Representatives from MEMA and emergency management agencies in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Kennebec, Somerset, Franklin, Waldo, Oxford, Lincoln, and Penobscot counties were in attendance.
