CMP Expects to Restore Power to Most by Wednesday Night

Due to extreme coastal flooding, crews may not be able to access some outage areas until Thursday

AUGUSTA, ME — January 10, 2024 — CMP has restored power to nearly 90% of customers impacted by Wednesday’s storm, which brought strong winds, snow, and flooding to Maine. Based on today’s progress, the company expects the vast majority of its impacted customers to be restored today. Due to extreme coastal flooding, crews will not be able to access and restore power to some customers until Thursday.

“Our goal was to restore power to the vast majority of our impacted customers by Wednesday evening, and we are on track to accomplish that based on the hard work of our crews. We are aware that some impacted customers live in communities affected by severe flooding, and our goal is to restore power to those areas once we gain access, likely on Thursday,” said Jon Breed, spokesperson for Central Maine Power. “As this storm concludes, we are already monitoring a second storm which will arrive to Maine on Friday night. We will have more information on those preparation efforts in the coming days.”
