CMP Completes Power Restoration from Winter Storm Elliott
AUGUSTA, ME—December 27, 2022 – Central Maine Power (CMP) has completed power restoration Tuesday night for the more than 300,000 customers who lost power in the Friday storm including resetting more than 300 broken utility poles. Company line crews will sweep circuits over the next few days to ensure are no new potential threats to the system such as hanging tree limbs.
“Our customers have been patient and have had nothing but supportive things to say to all of these lineworkers out restoring power since Friday,” said Joe Purington, president and CEO of CMP. “This goodwill goes a long way over a holiday spent away from families, and our lineworkers and tree crews—and all of our visiting contractors—were simply committed to getting power back as quickly as they could given the holiday and the cold weather.”
“We would also like to thank all the local businesses who supported our efforts along with all of the communities who were so generous as they helped feed our restoration teams over the Christmas holiday.”
Some CMP customers experienced additional outages Tuesday that were not storm related but stemming from car accidents including a tractor-trailer accident in Saco. Nearly 200,000 customer outages in 2022 were related to motor vehicles hitting utility poles.
