CMP Brings Maine Nonprofits Together to Strengthen Community Partnerships

More than 60 nonprofit leaders gathered for CMP’s fourth annual Nonprofit Networking Day to build connections, share ideas, and strengthen partnerships that support communities across Maine.

AUGUSTA, ME – August 5, 2026 – Central Maine Power (CMP), a subsidiary of Avangrid, Inc., proudly hosted its fourth annual Nonprofit Networking Day at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, bringing together more than 50 leaders from nonprofit organizations across Maine. The event provided opportunities to build relationships, share best practices, explore volunteer opportunities, and strengthen partnerships that support Maine communities.

Participants also learned more about partnering with CMP, built new connections through networking activities, and took part in conversations focused on addressing community needs and creating lasting impact.

“For the past four years, Nonprofit Networking Day has created a unique opportunity to connect with the organizations strengthening communities across Maine,” said Katie Yates, Director of Community Relations for Central Maine Power. “It allows us to hear directly from our nonprofit partners, learn more about the communities they serve and the challenges they face, and better understand how we can work together to make a difference. Just as importantly, it provides a space for nonprofit leaders to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another. Maine is stronger when we work together, and this event reflects that spirit of collaboration.”

Held on July 31, 2026, CMP's Nonprofit Networking Day brought together representatives from organizations including Marine Mammals of Maine, the Travis Mills Foundation, Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program, Make-A-Wish Maine, WinterKids, Spectrum Generations, LifeFlight, Sweetser, Habitat for Humanity and many others.

Attendees engaged directly with CMP employees, participated in panel discussions with fellow nonprofit leaders, learned about community initiatives across the state, and explored new opportunities for collaboration and volunteerism. The event included opportunities to connect with members of CMP's Customer Advocate and Community Relations teams to learn more about programs and resources available to customers.

"Bringing nonprofits together to share ideas, strengthen relationships, and tackle common challenges is incredibly valuable, and CMP has created a welcoming environment for that collaboration to happen," said Yellow Light Breen, President and CEO of the Maine Development Foundation. "The Maine Development Foundation and Maine Downtown Center are proud to partner with CMP and local organizations in Bath to share our leadership development experience and learn from one another. These conversations help build stronger nonprofits, stronger communities, and ultimately stronger local economies throughout Maine."

"Main Street Bath was delighted to participate in Central Maine Power's Nonprofit Networking Day," said Amanda McDaniel, Executive Director of Main Street Bath. "Hosting the event at the Maine Maritime Museum showcased the City of Ships and many of the organizations that help our community thrive. We welcomed the chance to connect with fellow nonprofit leaders, exchange ideas, and discuss how we can continue building sustainable organizations and stronger communities."

CMP partners with nearly 200 nonprofit organizations across Maine throughout the year, supporting efforts that strengthen local communities, expand opportunities for residents, and improve quality of life across the state.
