Central Maine Power Highlights Expansive Community Outreach and Volunteer Impact in 2025

Central Maine Power employees volunteered nearly 7,000 hours with community organizations along with expanding new outreach programs

AUGUSTA, ME – February 11, 2026 – Central Maine Power (CMP), a subsidiary of Avangrid, is proud to announce a strong commitment to its 2025 community outreach and volunteer initiatives, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves across Maine.

In 2025, CMP employees volunteered more than 6,800 hours across the state, supported community partners, and expanded new outreach programs designed to strengthen relationships with customers and provide greater transparency around company operations and infrastructure investments.

“We are proud of the dedication our employees show every day, not only in the work they do to provide safe and reliable power for our neighbors, but in the hours they invest in the communities where they live and work,” said Katie Yates, Director of Community Relations for Central Maine Power. “Our 2025 outreach and volunteer efforts reflect CMP’s ongoing commitment to serving Maine with respect, collaboration, and meaningful engagement.”

CMP introduced two new outreach opportunities that played a major role in strengthening CMP’s community presence.

Storm Response in Your Community Presentations
Launched in 2025, this program brings CMP teams directly into communities to explain how CMP prepares for and restores power during major weather events. Presentations also outline infrastructure investments (such as stronger poles, covered wire, and upgrades to aging equipment) designed to improve reliability in the face of increasingly extreme storms.

Community Open Houses for Capital Projects
CMP introduced open house sessions in communities where upcoming capital projects are planned. These events provide early insight into project goals and timelines and encourage twoway dialogue rather than one directional presentations. Customer feedback helps inform project approaches, and adjustments are made when feasible to minimize local impacts.

In addition, CMP continued to host nearly 80 Community Connection events statewide. These walk-in, in-person sessions are where customers can speak directly with CMP representatives about billing questions, service needs, and other account inquiries in a convenient, face-to-face format.

CMP’s Public Education team hosted 363 education presentations to schools, fairs, first responders, contractors and municipalities, reaching more than 10,000 people to help communities understand CMP’s system, respond safely to electrical emergencies, and use CMP corridors responsibly.

CMP employees volunteered with numerous organizations in 2025, including Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, Portland Trails, Junior Achievement, Spectrum Generations, Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Make A Wish Maine, Augusta Food Bank, American Cancer Society, Wayside Food Programs, Girls Scouts, MaineNeeds, Sweetser, and Travis Mills Foundation, among others.

CMP was honored with the 2025 Sweetser Star – Corporate Partner Award and the United Way of Kennebec Valley’s Norm Temple Community Volunteer Award.  The recognition is especially meaningful as it is named after Norm Temple, a former CMP Vice President who championed volunteerism and left a legacy of community service.
