Avangrid Foundation Supports Red Cross Disaster Preparedness

ORANGE, CONNECTICUT  MARCH 15, 2018  Avangrid Foundation announces support for the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. Avangrid Foundation is an independent organization that funds philanthropic investments in areas where AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a diversified energy company, and its subsidiaries operate. The Foundation is pleased to contribute $250,000 and join other corporations and foundations that provide one of the highest levels of support toward Red Cross preparedness and relief efforts. The Foundation is committed to not only disaster relief but strengthening community preparedness.

The Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters each year across the country, including home fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes and wildfires. Red Cross services are provided to people in need of assistance at no cost and regardless of income through the generosity of Red Cross donors.

 

This Avangrid Foundation donation allows the Red Cross to train volunteers and to secure and maintain the shelters, vehicles and supplies necessary for rapid emergency response on all scales. This support also allows Red Cross responders to remain on hand to assist people as they recover, and to help them prepare for the next disaster.
