2023 CMP Lineworker Apprentice Class Advances to Field Training
The twelve members of the 2023 class will complete training at a specialized CMP facility in Farmingdale, ME on July 7 and will move to regional offices next week.
FARMINGDALE, ME — July 6, 2023 — Central Maine Power (CMP) is proud to announce that this year’s class of lineworker apprentices will complete training at our specialized training facility on Friday, July 7. Members of the class will deploy to regional offices across Maine beginning next Monday.
Nine of the twelve members of the 2023 class of apprentices are graduates of Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) in Fairfield.
The apprentices, who were hired as part of the 2023 class, began a three-week training program with CMP on June 19. This is the first step of a four-year process, that, if successfully completed, leads to an apprentice becoming a fully rated 1st Class lineworker.
“We are proud of the work this year’s apprentice class has done so far and we are looking forward to supporting their future growth as part of our CMP family,” said Adam Desrosiers, Vice President of Electric Operations for Central Maine Power. “This class represents the next generation of CMP lineworkers and will build on our nearly 125-year history of ensuring Mainers received safe, reliable power every day.”
This is the fifth year CMP has worked closely with KVCC to hire apprentices directly from the college.
