CMP Wrapping Up Storm Repairs

AUGUSTA, Maine, November 23, 2011, 9 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) is restoring power to the last of the customers left without service following the winter storm that dumped up to a foot of snow on Maine Wednesday. Utility officials estimate more than 28,000 customers were without service at some point over the course of the storm.

The snow left many roads throughout southern Maine coated with snow, making driving conditions treacherous, resulting in several motor vehicle accidents that knocked out power to thousands. The snow also coated tree limbs and branches, putting them into contact with power lines.

At 9 p.m., fewer than 200 customer accounts were without service, and crews were doing final repairs to lines serving customers in Buxton, Camden, Cornish, Frankfort, Freeport, Limerick, Raymond, Woolwich, and West Bath.

“We appreciate customers’ patience and understanding as our crews worked to complete repairs to 28,000 customer accounts in a single day,” says CMP spokesperson Gail Rice. “We hope everyone enjoys the Thanksgiving holiday.”

This is the final update for this storm.
