Central Maine Power Crews Moving from New Hampshire to Connecticut to Assist with Storm Repairs

AUGUSTA, Maine, November 4, 2011 — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) has sent 30 two-man line repair crews and bucket trucks to Connecticut to help restore service for customers of Connecticut Light and Power. CMP crews have been working in New Hampshire since Tuesday. The October snowstorm also knocked out power to more than 200,000 CMP customers as it moved through Maine on Sunday. The company completed all repairs in Maine early Tuesday, and dispatched two dozen crews to help Public Service of New Hampshire on Tuesday evening.

“Other companies from around New England and Canada have helped us recover from big storms,” said Sara Burns, Central Maine Power president. “We faced more than 200,000 outages ourselves, so we know how tough conditions like that can be on utility workers and their customers. I believe it’s important for utility companies to help their neighbors.”

Six more Maine crews joined the effort in New Hampshire on Friday as the CMP team wrapped up work and moved on to Connecticut. Accompanying the lineworkers, more than a dozen CMP supervisors, safety specialists, mechanics, and logistics specialists are also on their way to Connecticut.
