Central Maine Power Wraps Up Repairs from Tropical Storm Irene
AUGUSTA, Maine, September 2, 2011, 9:30 a.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports 700 customers without power as of 9:30 a.m. Tropical Storm Irene struck Maine last Sunday, knocking out power to almost 280,000 customers. The company attacked the damage with the goal of restoring power across the system by Thursday night. Crews succeeded in restoring power to more than 279,000 accounts in a five-day, round-the-clock effort. The remaining outages are among scattered homes and seasonal camps in rural parts of Cumberland, Oxford, and York counties. The company will complete restoration in those areas later today.
