Central Maine Power Outages Down to 44,000 as Storm Recovery Continues
AUGUSTA, Maine, August 31, 2011, 9 a.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports 44,000 customers without power as of 9 a.m. Outages from Tropical Storm Irene peaked at nearly 187,000 customer accounts around 9 o’clock Sunday night, and the company estimates that nearly 280,000 customers lost service at some point during the storm.
