CMP Gains Ground on Power Restoration

AUGUSTA, Maine, August 29, 2011, 5 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports an estimated 135,000 customers without power as of 5  p.m. Outages from Hurricane Irene peaked at nearly 187,000 customer accounts around 9:00 Sunday night, and the company estimates that nearly 280,000 customers lost service at some point during the storm.
