Central Maine Power Customer Satisfaction is Tops in the Region Among Large Utilities for the Fourth Consecutive Year

  

J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Residential Customer Satisfaction Study ranks CMP No. 1 in the east among large utilities


AUGUSTA, Maine, July 15, 2011 — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) has been ranked No. 1 in residential customer satisfaction among large electric utilities in the east for the fourth year in a row. J.D. Power and Associates, a global marketing information services company, released their rankings based on their 2011 Residential Customer Satisfaction Study. CMP has been ranked No. 1 by J.D. Power and Associates every year since 2008.


The J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM noted that improvements in utility operations and customer communications were important to overall customer satisfaction levels. The 2011 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM is based on responses from more than 98,000 online interviews conducted from July 2010 through May 2011 among residential customers of the 124 largest electric utility brands across the United States, which collectively represent more than 93 million households. • Work began last year on a $1.4 billion project to modernize the backbone of the company’s high voltage grid.
• With the support of a $96 million federal grant, CMP is replacing nearly 620,000 meters with new digital smart meters linked by two-way wireless communication.
• The company’s ownership by Iberdrola provides the expertise and resources of a leading global utility.
• A five-year agreement with regulators will provide stable rates and enhanced maintenance spending for better service reliability through 2013.
