Storm Repair Work Will Continue Through the Night
AUGUSTA, Maine, March 7, 2011 — Crews from Central Maine Power Company (CMP) will work through the night in efforts to fix damage caused by a late winter storm that came through Maine on Monday. Heavy, wet snow and ice coated tree limbs and branches in inland and northern parts of the utility’s service area, bringing them down onto power lines. Continued inclement weather hindered repair efforts in many areas Monday evening.
A transformer failure at a utility substation in Farmington left an additional 3,800 customers in the area without service. The company is working to restore service to some of those customers later this evening, but many will likely be without service into the pre-dawn hours.
Some customers in other parts of the utility’s service area will also be without service into Tuesday.
Here is a list of outages by county as of 9 p.m. Monday:
If outages occur, customers should call the toll-free outage hotline: 1-800-696-1000. Additional information on storm safety can be found on CMP’s web site at www.cmpco.com.
