CMP Crews Keep Pace with Scattered Outages
AUGUSTA, Maine, Feb. 25, 2011, 5 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports that heavy snow and high winds have caused only scattered outages throughout the day. At mid-morning, power outages briefly reached 3,600 accounts in York and Cumberland counties where the sticky snow fell most heavily, but crews were able to complete most repairs in a matter of hours. As of 4:30 p.m., fewer than 100 homes and businesses were without power. The forecast calls for the snow to ease by dusk, but strong winds will fill in during the evening. CMP has assigned extra crews for the overnight, and expects to be able to keep up with repairs if more outages occur later this evening.
