CMP crews saturate York County and coastal communities
AUGUSTA, Maine, Dec. 15, 2008, noon — Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) expects to restore power to the last of the outages in communities in Cumberland, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln Counties by early Wednesday. The company said it would be shifting the bulk of its resources to York County over the course of the day Monday and Tuesday.
As of noon on Monday, 39,000 customer accounts were still without power, mainly in southern and coastal counties. CMP has restored power to more than 180,000 homes and businesses, which is about 80% of the 220,000 accounts of those who were without power on Friday.
“As the area with outages shrinks, we move more and more crews into the remaining towns,” said CMP spokesman John Carroll. “At the start of this storm, our crews were covering 445 towns from Kittery to Bucksport to Jackman. By this point, we’ve nearly doubled our number of crews, and they’re concentrated in 40 towns in the southern tip of the state.”
Maps showing the extent of the outages and the progress of the restoration are available on the company’s website by clicking Ice Storm 2008.
Following is a list of remaining outages by Service Center. Each Service Center includes the city or town listed, along with a dozen or more surrounding communities. A map showing the towns in each service area as well as a town-by-town listing of outages can be found on CMP’s web site at www.cmpco.com.
