Central Maine Power completes upgrades in Freeport

AUGUSTA, Maine, Nov. 14, 2008 — Central Maine Power Company (CMP) has completed upgrades to its substation and electricity delivery system in Freeport.

“These enhancements were needed to accommodate business and residential growth in Freeport,” said CMP spokesman John Carroll. “Our crews upgraded a transformer and added a fourth circuit position in the substation. They also installed communications equipment that will allow us to minimize the number of customer outages should an incident like a motor vehicle accident require us to disrupt power.”

Earlier this year, workers extended one distribution line and added another to ease the growing load on the three circuits that have been operating out of the substation.

“These system betterments will allow us to provide safe, reliable service to Freeport’s retailers, other businesses, and residents in the community for years to come,” says Carroll.
