CMP Continues to Make Strides in Ice Storm Recovery

AUGUSTA, Maine, December 26, 2013, 9 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, will have crews working through a fourth straight night in efforts to complete service recovery following the ice storm that hit Maine Monday and Tuesday. At 9 p.m., an estimated 11,146 customer accounts remained without service, down from a Tuesday morning peak of 87,000. CMP estimates more than 123,000 customers lost power at least once in the storm’s aftermath.

“Today’s snow made travel and working conditions difficult, slowed down our progress, and even caused about 5,000 new outages over the course of the day,” said CMP spokesman John Carroll. “But the snow and cold temperatures are also motivating us to get the job done for our customers.”

On Friday, the utility will continue to re-deploy crews to areas with remaining outages. CMP plans to complete service restoration for all customers by late Friday.

Following is a list of outages by county.
