CMP Reduces Outages to Fewer Than 3,000

AUGUSTA, Maine, June 3, 2013 — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, has restored service to 90 percent of customers who lost power following severe thunderstorms that hit Maine on Sunday. At 4 p.m.., fewer than 2,900 customers remained without service, most in Maine’s western mountains and foothills. CMP estimates that 31,000 customers lost service at some point during the storm.

CMP expects to have service restored to the vast majority of these customers by late this evening. However, there remain areas where storm debris is blocking access for repair crews, so there may be pockets of customers who will remain without service into the overnight hours.

CMP crews will continue to work through the night in an effort to restore service. An estimated 300 people, including lineworkers, pole-setting crews, tree crews, assessors, safety specialists, supervisors, and others, have been working in the field and in CMP offices on service restoration.

Here is a list of remaining outages by county:

Oxford: 1,451
Piscataquis: 587
Somerset: 483
Penobscot: 159
Franklin: 157
Cumberland: 23
CMP Total: 2,861
