Central Maine Power Meets All Service-Quality Targets for 2012

AUGUSTA, Maine, March 6, 2013 — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, has reported to state regulators that it met or exceeded all seven of its service-quality targets for 2012 under its Alternative Rate Plan (ARP) price-cap program. The targets are part of the utility’s rate plan with the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) to keep prices stable while maintaining service quality.

“We are extremely proud of our long record of keeping prices stable while maintaining high standards for service,” said CMP President Sara Burns. “The service quality targets ensure that we as we raise our efficiency, we also improve the quality and reliability of our service to customers.”

The five-year agreement between CMP and the MPUC sets annual targets for outage duration and frequency, call center responsiveness and service quality, customer complaints, new service installation, and meters read. The utility provides the Commission with quarterly progress reports, and will announce its yearly results to customers in their bills later this year. This is the fourth consecutive year that CMP has met or exceeded all seven targets. The utility was operated under a series of similar plans since 1995.

“CMP takes very seriously its commitment to keep prices down while providing the best possible service to our customers,” says Burns. “We were pioneers in alternative ratemaking in the mid-1990s, and other utilities in Maine and other states have followed our lead. We’re happy to see it is still working so well nearly 20 years later.”
