CMP Crews Make Progress Repairing Storm Damage
AUGUSTA, Maine, January 31, 2013, 5 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, has restored service to more than 70,000 homes and businesses affected by today’s wind storm. At 4:30 p.m., an estimated 22,000 customer accounts remained without service. The wind storm that swept through Maine on Thursday brought gusts over 50 miles per hour that knocked out power to more than 94,000 homes and businesses in CMP’s service area. The number of outages peaked at more than 44,000 at midday.
“We have been able to make good progress today, and we hope that will continue well into the evening,” said CMP spokesman John Carroll. “We expect to have many of the remaining customers back on by late tonight, but some customers won’t get their service restored until sometime tomorrow.”
