High Winds Knock Out Power to More Than
40,000 Homes and Businesses in Central and Southern Maine
AUGUSTA, Maine, January 31, 2013, 12 noon — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, reports an estimated 42,000 outages at midday Thursday as strong winds rake its service area. CMP crews are responding with assistance with additional crews from Maine contractors providing additional lineworkers and tree removal crews. Reports of outages began this morning from communities in southern coastal areas and swelled quickly as high winds spread throughout central and southern Maine.
