Central Maine Power Crews Reduce Outages to 8,000

 

AUGUSTA, Maine, December 22, 2012, noon — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, reports 8,000 outages as of noon. The company expects to restore power to most customers by late this evening. The wind storm that swept through Maine on Friday brought gusts over 50 miles per hour that knocked out power to 64,000 homes and businesses in CMP’s service area. The number of outages peaked at more than 37,000 late on Friday afternoon.
