High Winds Knock Out Power to 29,000 Homes and Businesses in Southern Maine
AUGUSTA, Maine, December 21, 2012, 5 p.m. — Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, reports 28,600 outages this afternoon as strong southeast winds rake southern and coastal areas. CMP crews are responding with assistance with additional crews from Maine contractors providing additional lineworkers and tree removal crews. Reports of outages began in late afternoon from communities in southern York County and swelled quickly as high winds advanced north and east along the coast.
