CMP power restoration continues for second day
AUGUSTA, ME – Nov.29, 2009, 11:30 a.m. – Central Maine Power Company (CMP) reports that 3,900 homes and businesses remain without power as of 11:00 this morning. The company said that Saturday’s storm brought down trees and power lines as high winds swept across its service area and brought wet, heavy snow to many northern and mountain areas. CMP said that outages peaked at nearly 18,300 customer accounts at mid-day on Saturday, but reports of new outages continued throughout the overnight.
The company had restored power to all but about 2,800 customers by dawn, but that number jumped to 4,900 by mid-morning. CMP expects to restore power to customers in all areas by this evening.
