Maintenance outage affecting Bath area customers postponed to July 19 due to forecasts for thunderstorms
AUGUSTA, ME – July 10, 2009 – Central Maine Power Company (CMP) needs to disrupt power to an estimated 3,850 customers in Bath, West Bath, and Phippsburg early Sunday morning, July 19, to perform maintenance at its Washington Street Substation in Bath. Workers need to replace a switch in the substation. While the system is out, crews will perform additional preventative maintenance on the distribution system serving the area.
The outage will begin at 2 a.m. Sunday, July 19. Power is expected to be restored for customers in Bath by 3 a.m., and for customers in West Bath and Phippsburg by 5 a.m. This outage was originally scheduled for June 28 and July 12, but was postponed due to forecasts for thunderstorms.
“This outage is needed so our crews can work on this equipment safely and efficiently,” says CMP spokesman John Carroll. “We scheduled this work for the overnight hours to minimize inconvenience to customers, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding.”
The outage will affect the following streets and roads:
Bath: Washington Street (to the intersection with Elm Street), Vine Street, Water Street, Elm Street, Center Street (to the intersection with Lincoln Street), Middle Street (to the intersection with Winter Street), School Street, Walker Street, Raymond Court, Bath Street, Union Street, Granite Street, Robinson Lane, South Street, Pleasant Avenue, High Street up (to the intersection with Center Street), High Street Court, Hyde Extension (also known as Campus Drive), Maxwell Street, Palmer Street, Richardson Street (to the intersection of Redlon Road), Farrin Street, Cato Avenue, Meadow Street, Western Ave (to intersection with Elsinore Ave), Pine Hill, West Street, Elsinore Avenue, Cottage Street, Liberty Street, Court Street (to intersection with Quimby Street North), Winslow Court, Old South Place, Fisher Court, Wesley Street, and Shepard Street.
West Bath: Campbell’s Pond Road, Birch Point Road (and all side roads from it), Meadowbrook Road, and Brigham’s Cove Road (and all side roads from it).
Phippsburg: All streets and roads.
