CMP restores power to nearly 100,000 customer accounts
Outages expected to drop below 25,000 by evening

AUGUSTA, Maine, April 18, 2007, 5:00 p.m.  Central Maine Power Company has restored service to 96,000 customers as of 5:00 p.m. The company will continue its restoration efforts around the clock, however, many of the 31,000 customers still without power will be out overnight. CMP said they expect to make good progress on Thursday, as crews are shifted to concentrate the effort on the remaining areas with outages. Many of mid-coast communities suffered the most severe damage, and the company expects those areas to be the most challenging to repair.

Following is a breakdown of outages and projected restoration times for the majority of customers in each Service Center. Restoration work will continue in all areas until the work is complete, and most customers will have their service restored well-within the projected restoration times. Each Service Center includes the city or town listed and about a dozen surrounding communities. A map showing the service areas is available on the company's outage page on its website at www.cmpco.com.

Alfred - 4,500 - Thursday, early evening
Bridgton - 10 - Wednesday, early evening
Brunswick - 18,000 - Friday, late night
Portland - 7,500 - Friday, late evening
Rockland - 1,100 - Thursday, early evening
