Release: Immediate - An Energy East Company

Power restored to more than 100,000 customers

AUGUSTA, Maine, April 7, 2007, 8:00 a.m. Central Maine Power Co. reports that 15,000 customer accounts remain without power as of 8:00 a.m. The company has restored power to more than 100,000 since the storm's peak on Thursday afternoon. At this time, the remaining outages are primarily in communities in York County, and in coastal Sagadahoc and Lincoln Counties. As the restoration progresses, the company has continued to deploy crews into the remaining areas. CMP expects to restore power to the rest of its customers by late Saturday evening. "We realize how difficult it is for customers to wait through two nights without power," said CMP spokesman John Carroll. "It's especially tough for those who are still waiting toward the end of the restoration, because each repair takes an increasingly long time. It's unpleasant at best and a real hardship for some, so we appreciate their patience."

Following is a breakdown of outages by Service Center. Each Service Center includes the city or town listed and about a dozen surrounding communities. A map showing the service areas is available on the company's outage page on its website at www.cmpco.com.

Alfred - 7,800
Brunswick - 6,400
Portland - 200
