CMP reaches halfway mark in power restoration

AUGUSTA, Maine, April 6, 2007, noon  Central Maine Power Co. reported that 58,100 customer accounts are still without power as of noon today. The company has cut the number of outages in half since yesterday afternoon, when the outages peaked at approximately 117,000 customer accounts. This is the largest number of outages since 340,000 lost power in the 1998 ice storms.

Following is a breakdown of outages by Service Center. Each Service Center includes the city or town listed and about a dozen surrounding communities. A map showing the service areas is available on the company's outage page on its website at www.cmpco.com.
