Release: Immediate - An Energy East Company

CMP responding to scattered outages

AUGUSTA, Maine, February 14, 2007 5:00 p.m. Central Maine Power Co. reports only scattered outages throughout the day, despite high winds and slippery roads. In late afternoon, fewer than 1,200 outages were reported. CMP crews were en route to the largest outage of the day, which affected approximately 1,175 customer accounts in parts of Cumberland, Falmouth, Gray, and Windham.

"We were well prepared for this storm, but so far we've had only a few, widely scattered outages," said John Carroll, CMP spokesman. "We'll have extra crews on all day and into the night for any problems that come during the afternoon commute or as the winds back to the northwest and build later this evening."

CMP also reminds drivers to use caution when approaching utility crews in the roadway. The working conditions are difficult, and they will appreciate everyones consideration for their safety.

Additional information on storm safety and restoration, including a town-by-town listing of outages in the CMP service area with an area map, can be found on CMP's web site at www.cmpco.com.
